From portion sizes to delivery days, we’ve got you covered. And if you don’t see your question here, reach out to us and we’ll be happy to help.

Getting Started with Baby-Led Weaning

  • It’s generally recommended to start around 6 months of age, when your baby shows signs of readiness such as sitting independently, losing their tongue thrust reflex, and showing interest in food.

  • I highly recommend taking a first aid course for babies, so you’re prepared if the situation arises. If your baby is gagging, choking, or having an allergic reaction, it’s important to stay calm. Babies can sense your emotions, so if they see panic, they might panic too. Offer reassurance with a calm demeanour.

  • Every baby is different, so there’s no one-size-fits-all approach. Here’s a general guideline for portion sizes as they grow.

    • 6 months: 1-2 tablespoons while they develop their appetite and skills

    • 7-10 months: 1/4 to 1/3 cup

    • 10-12 months: 1/3 to 1/2 cup

    • 12-15 months: 1/2 to 3/4 cup

    • 15-24 months: 3/4 to 1 cup

Always let your baby guide you based on their hunger cues.

  • Here’s a general guideline for meal frequency:

    • 6 months: 1-2 meals a day

    • 7-9 months: 2-3 meals a day

    • 10-11 months: 3 meals a day

    • 12+ months: 3 meals and 2 snacks a day

It can be overwhelming at first, and there’s no harm in offering snacks instead of full meals as you find a routine that works for you.

  • Small meals are typically suited for babies between 6 to 9-12 months, while larger meals are ideal for 12-24 months. Since each baby eats different amounts, consider your baby’s appetite. If you order a larger portion and they don't eat it all, simply heat up the portion you need and save the rest for later!

  • I’ve made sure some of the meals are left whole to accommodate babies who prefer a larger grip. If your baby prefers a pincer grip, simply cut the meals, slices or pancakes into more manageable sizes.

  • I use food-safe plastic containers that are microwave-friendly to keep costs down for you. However, if you prefer to heat in the oven, just transfer the food to an oven-safe tray and warm it up.

  • You can start serving Bub Grub meals once you've introduced allergens, as clearly outlined on each meal’s label. Be sure to check for any allergens before serving.

  • Your meals will arrive frozen in insulated bags. Please store them in the freezer as soon as possible, or place them in the fridge to thaw for use.

  • Bub Grub meals should be stored in the freezer until you're ready to use them. For best results, thaw them before heating to ensure they are warmed through properly.

  • At Bub Grub, we are committed to ensuring the highest quality and nutritional value in every meal. We have completed comprehensive shelf-life testing to guarantee that our meals maintain their freshness and goodness. Each meal has a shelf life of 3 months. To give you peace of mind, we will always provide you with at least 8 weeks before the "Best Before" date.
